Job summary

SAS in Cary, NC is seeking a Software Developer - Back-End with 2-5 years of experience to join the EVAAS team, building scalable Java-based backend services that turn education data into insights.

You'll work across design and delivery, write well-tested code, and partner with a team to evolve the web application. Hybrid work with three days in the office.

About The Job

As a Software Developer on the SAS EVAAS (Education Visualization and Analytics System) team, you will help develop a web application used by educators to uncover insights from the data our tools provide. You will have the opportunity to contribute across the full design and development lifecycle, from early concepts through delivery and ongoing improvement.

As a Software Developer, You Will

• Utilize your Java and SQL skills to write reliable, well-tested backend code that supports meaningful education insights.
• Design backend systems and processes that deliver the EVAAS web application to educators in a scalable and repeatable fashion.
• Work with the team from design through implementation to evolve the EVAAS web application and supporting backend systems.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related quantitative field with 2-5 years of professional full-time experience.
• At least 2 years of experience with:
  • Java programming
  • Developing and delivering Web-based applications
  • Relational databases
• Superior analytical and problem-solving skills

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with the following:
  • Spring Framework
  • Maven and the Project Object Model (POM)
  • Various static or interactive code scanning tools
  • Documenting decisions, processes, and code
  • Microsoft SQL Server
  • Git and GitHub
