AMEWAS is seeking a highly motivated and talented Software Developer and Integrator (JSE)-Journeyman to support Battlespace Modeling & Simulation. The salary range of this position is $115,800.00 – $165,600.00 and is commensurate with experience. This position is not eligible for remote work; on‑site support is required.
Patuxent River, MD, is located in the California‑Lexington Park area.
The Joint Simulation Environment (JSE) Patuxent River is the enterprise‑wide center of excellence for developing the DoD’s premier modern warfare training and operational test bed system. JSE is a world‑class simulation experience for the warfighter. The simulation requires multiple software products to be integrated and work seamlessly together to provide the required warfighter need. The JSE software structure has products grouped into two groups: the first being the JSE Technical Baseline (JTB) which creates the high‑fidelity environment of the simulation, and the second group, the JSE Platform Packages (JPP), which allows platform simulations to integrate into the simulation environment. As an Integrator, you will work amongst a team to integrate new versions of JSE software products. Once integrated, you will conduct integration testing on the newly integrated version and provide test results that will determine if the baseline of JSE software is ready to move to the next level of testing. This role requires serving as the integration team’s subject‑matter expert for Lua. In JSE, Lua is used with all products, allowing them to be started and maintained by the Simulation Control Executive (SCE) while in operation. When issues arise with product Lua code or with Lua integration, you will need to understand the issue, define it clearly, and provide concise feedback to product teams. You will also be the subject‑matter expert for JSE DevOps. While JSE has a DevOps team, this position will work closely with that team and have a full understanding of JSE’s DevOps processes to troubleshoot deployment or Ansible issues, characterize deployment needs, and brief the integration team on changes.
Candidates must demonstrate a customer‑focused mindset, professionalism, and discretion, while working collaboratively with management and teams to meet objectives. Candidates should be hard‑working individuals with strong attention to detail and the ability to foster a positive, team‑oriented culture.
The physical environment for this position requires the employee to work in an office, sitting in a cubicle or at a desk, looking at a computer for most of the workday. Work is physically comfortable. The employee has discretion about sitting, walking, standing, etc.
The employee may be required to travel short distances to offices, conference rooms and buildings on site or near the work site. On rare occasions, overnight travel may be required.
