Job summary

You will collaborate with air quality scientists, developers, IT staff, and end users to set specifications, evaluate options, and ensure robust, well-documented solutions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in CS, software engineering, or 3+ years of software development.
• Experience in Java or comparable languages and tools like Visual Studio.
• Experience with the Spring Framework (Boot/MVC).
• Designing and consuming REST APIs or web services.
• Experience with relational databases, SQL, and ETL concepts.
• Experience in Windows environments; able to work in Linux with Bash.
• Understanding of software design, testing, debugging, and source control.
• Willingness to learn new languages, frameworks, and codebases.
• Strong attention to detail, organization and communication.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, document and deploy web, desktop, and server apps.
• Develop and integrate REST APIs, services, databases, and data workflows.
• Translate requirements into practical, maintainable software.
• Collaborate with scientists, developers, IT staff, and end users to set specs.
• Evaluate options and make informed technical recommendations.
• Monitor apps, diagnose errors, and address production issues.
• Apply testing, security, source-control, and code-review practices.
• Support, upgrade, and modernize legacy applications.
• Maintain clear technical docs and provide user training as needed.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
