Job summary

Crossway seeks a Software Developer to contribute to the design, development, and maintenance of software applications within the IT team. You will write, test, and debug code, and support end users in a UNIX/Linux environment.

The role reports to the VP of Information Technology and requires strong problem-solving, collaboration, and the ability to learn new technologies quickly. This position emphasizes quality and teamwork in a not-for-profit ministry.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, MIS, or related field—or equivalent professional experience.
  • Experience in front-end or back-end development for UNIX or LINUX environments.
  • Familiarity with SQL for data manipulation and retrieval.
  • Knowledge of database management and security practices (preferred).

Reports To: Vice President, Information Technology

General Responsibilities:

The Software Developer will contribute to the design, development, and maintenance of software applications in collaboration with the IT team. This role involves writing, testing, and debugging code, as well as supporting end users with technical needs. Ideal candidates will have experience with multiple programming languages and a strong foundation in front-end or back-end development for UNIX or LINUX environments.

This role reports directly to the VP of Information Technology. Regular responsibilities include contributing ideas and strategies, reviewing plans and progress, evaluating results, and addressing management priorities.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with developers and IT leadership to design, build, and maintain applications.
  • Write, test, and maintain clean, efficient, and well-documented code.

Salary range: $60,000-$80,000 annually; The position provides a competitive salary based on previous work experience, education, acquired skills, and established relationships. The salary is commensurate with current standards for comparable positions and responsibilities within publishing and other leading not-for-profit ministries. Compensation for every Crossway employee is reviewed and evaluated annually by the Executive Compensation Committee (ECC) of the Crossway Board of Directors.
