Job summary
BT Group is seeking Software Developers in Test (SDETs) to help deliver mission-critical services in a UK environment. You will combine software engineering and quality engineering to build automation, tooling and platforms across CI/CD pipelines and testing frameworks to enable resilient systems.
This role requires eligibility for UK Developed Vetting (DV) clearance and is suited to curious, collaborative engineers ready to grow within a broad engineering community.

Responsibilities
- Develop resilient, maintainable and well-tested software that supports both products and quality engineering capabilities.
- Design, build and maintain tools, frameworks and services that improve automation and delivery confidence.

- Contribute to test environments, infrastructure and supporting platforms used across engineering teams.
- Work closely with software engineers, solution architects and operational stakeholders to solve complex technical challenges.
- Share knowledge, mentor colleagues and help develop modern quality engineering practices.

We're growing our engineering teams and recruiting Software Developers in Test (SDETs) at all experience levels to help deliver technology that supports mission-critical services.
As an SDET, you'll combine software engineering and quality engineering skills to build the tools, frameworks and automation capabilities that help teams deliver secure, resilient and reliable technology. You'll work closely with software engineers, architects, delivery teams and customers to ensure quality is designed into solutions from the very beginning of the development lifecycle.
Whether you're developing automated test frameworks, improving CI/CD pipelines, validating complex integrations, analysing system behaviour or creating tooling that helps teams move faster with confidence, you'll be helping deliver technology that genuinely matters.
With a background is in software engineering, automation, test engineering, DevOps, platform engineering or site reliability, you'll have opportunities to grow your career within a broad engineering community.

Note: This role requires eligibility for UK Developed Vetting (DV) clearance. As a result, applicants must typically be sole British citizens and have lived in the UK continuously for the previous 10 years, subject to UK Government vetting requirements.
