Job summary

BT Group is seeking a Network Security 2nd Line Firewall Engineer to deliver specialist security support across multiple UK sites. You will act as a cyber incident decision maker and provide remediation guidance to Lines of Business and external customers.

Responsibilities include testing, documentation, and ensuring secure handling of customer data, while collaborating with vendors and internal teams to meet deadlines and standards.

Qualifications

• Requires CompTIA Network+ and Security+, Fortinet, Cisco ASA/FirePower, Palo Alto, Azure/AWS.
• Hands-on experience with cloud security and network firewall technologies.
• Clear understanding of TCP/IP, OSI layers and secure engineering practices.

Responsibilities

About the role

This role exists to provide specialist technical support on complex network security and cyber security deployments for any and all of our UK contracts. Building intermate working relationships and trust through effective communication and meeting expectation and deadlines is key. Liaising with customer representatives or vendors and directing other support staff where appropriate will form part of the role.

What you’ll be doing

One key thing that all of our engineers have in common is a desire to develop/deliver brilliant, industry redefining platforms as well as their own skills.

We need you to be a cyber incident decision maker, responsible for ensuring that mitigation controls and incident response are appropriate

Providing security advice and remediation to Lines of Business within BT and external customers,

Complete and own integration testing on new products and services, producing all relevant supporting documentation

Positively support team leader and line manager.

Ensure full awareness of the need to safeguard sensitive customer information at all times, so that customers perceive BT to be a trustworthy organisation.
