Job summary

Sabre Systems, LLC is seeking a Software Developer to enhance systems used on the U.S. Navy’s aircraft platforms, including the P-8A Poseidon. The role focuses on Java-based backend services, APIs, and microservices, with involvement across the full software lifecycle and Agile practices.

Candidates should have 3–5 years of Java experience and be eligible for a DoD security clearance. You'll collaborate with senior engineers, write clean code, and contribute to scalable architectures.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in CS, Computer Systems Information Management, IT, Electrical Engineering or Mathematics with 3-5 years of Java experience.
• Proficiency in Java and Spring Boot, Hibernate, JPA.
• Experience with RESTful APIs and web services.
• Familiarity with front-end technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript) is a plus.
• Knowledge of PostgreSQL and SQL.
• Experience with Git version control.
• Familiarity with Maven and CI/CD pipelines.
• Understanding of SOLID, MVC design patterns.
• Ability to work independently and quickly learn in a fast-paced environment.
• Candidate must be able to obtain and maintain an Active DoD Secret Clearance.
• Must be a US Citizen.

Responsibilities

• Participate in full software development lifecycle activities including requirements, design, development, integration, and test.
• Participate in the design and architecture of software systems, ensuring scalability and performance.
• Collaborate with senior developers and architects to create technical designs and specifications.
• Write clean, efficient, and maintainable Java code following best practices.
• Develop and maintain backend services, APIs, and microservices using Java frameworks (e.g., Spring, Hibernate).
• Implement new features and functionality based on business requirements.
• Debug, troubleshoot, and resolve software defects and issues.
• Conduct code reviews to ensure adherence to coding standards and best practices.
• Write tests to ensure code quality.
• Work closely with cross-functional teams, including product managers, designers, and other developers.
• Participate in daily stand-ups, sprint planning, and retrospectives as part of the Agile development process.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior developers.
• Create and maintain technical documentation for code, APIs, and system architecture.
• Document processes, workflows, and troubleshooting steps for future reference.
• Stay up-to-date with the latest Java technologies, frameworks, and industry trends.
• Identify opportunities to improve existing systems and processes.
• Optimize application performance and scalability.

Compensation Statement

At Sabre Systems, LLC, compensation is based on factors such as location, qualifications, experience, and contract-specific requirements; however, final compensation will be determined by individual qualifications and applicable contract terms. The general salary range for this position is as follows: $95,000.00 - $115,000.00
