Job summary

Tactical Engineering & Analysis, Inc. in Dahlgren, VA is seeking a Software Developer to support the NSWCDD Intelligent Automation Division (H60) for the US Navy, DoW, and interagency partners with autonomous and AI-enabled warfare technologies.

Responsibilities include software design, development, API integration, and agile collaboration, with emphasis on AI/ML and large language models to solve complex problems. A STEM degree and security clearance or eligibility are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelors Degree in STEM or related field; alternatively an approved software certification.
• Strong programming fundamentals and modern software development experience.
• Experience with AI/ML or large language models is highly desirable.

Job description

The Software Developer is responsible for assisting in development of new intelligence systems and machine learning capabilities to current and new warfare systems. They will play a supporting role in achieving the organizations goals by support the NSWCDD Intelligent Automation Division (H60) for the US Navy, DoW, and Interagency partners with warfare technologies that represent the intersection of autonomy, artificial intelligence, robotics, and unmanned systems. This position will directly impact expansion of the US Navy into the field of Artificial Intelligence and through Large Language Model problem (LLM) solving and machine learning integration.

CORE FUNCTIONS / JOB DUITES

Able to perform the following independently, under minimum supervision:

• Design, develop, and maintain high-quality software solutions that meet project requirements and best practices.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand project needs and implement effective solutions.
• Write clean, efficient, and well-documented code using program preferred languages.
• Participate in code reviews to ensure code quality and enhance team skills.
• Analyze and optimize database performance, including designing schemas and writing efficient queries.
• Implement and integrate APIs, including authentication and authorization mechanisms.
• Contribute to the entire software development life cycle, from requirement gathering to maintenance.
• Troubleshoot and debug software issues.
• Participate in Agile methodologies such as sprint planning, daily stand-ups, retrospectives, and backlog grooming.
• Mentor junior developers and contribute to a positive team environment.

PAY RANGE

$120,000.00 to $150,000.00 annually, DOE

SECURITY CLEARANCE

Candidates must have an active clearance OR the ability to obtain a US Government security clearance and will be subject to a US security background investigation (i.e. favorable background investigation / credit score). Additional eligibility requirements for access to various levels of classified information may also be required. An active security clearance is highly desirable.
