Job summary

Tactical Engineering & Analysis, Inc. seeks an experienced Sr. Software Developer to support the Tomahawk program at Naval Surface Warfare Center Dahlgren Division. You will design, develop, and troubleshoot high-quality software in a collaborative, agile environment.

You will work with Java, JavaFX, and C++, participate in GitLab-based CI/CD, and contribute to architecture, testing, and documentation while mentoring peers and aligning with security practices.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in a related STEM field is required.
  • Experience with Java, JavaFX and C++ is required.
  • Exposure to Guice dependency injection is desired.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain high-quality software applications.
  • Lead and participate in full SDLC with CI/CD and code reviews.
  • Engage in DevSecOps pipelines including unit tests and SonarQube.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement innovative solutions.
  • Establish code-review guidelines and promote constructive feedback.
  • Mentor mid-level developers and provide technical guidance.
  • Contribute to technical documentation and software architecture decisions.
  • Manage artifacts with GitLab, Artifactory, and Nexus.
  • Implement security measures and data-protection protocols.
  • Work in Agile Scrum ceremonies and use Jira/Confluence.

Job description

The Sr. Software Developer is responsible for supporting development efforts supporting A50 NSWCDD for the Tomahawk program at Naval Surface Warfare Center Dahlgren Division. They will play a supporting role in achieving the organizations goals by operating in key development role with design, peer review, coding, and troubleshooting support.

Core Functions / Job Duties
  • Designing, developing, and maintaining high-quality software applications using Java, JavaFX, and Guice.
  • Using Git for local development and GitLab for configuration management, including handling merge requests and maintaining code repositories.
  • Leading and participating in the full software development life‑cycle, from concept to deployment, employing Gradle for building and automating the compilation, testing, and deployment of the application.
  • Engaging in the DevSecOps pipeline to compile code, execute unit tests, verify code coverage, and analyze results from SonarQube scans.
  • Collaborating with cross‑functional teams, both internal and external stakeholders, to define and implement innovative solutions.
  • Establishing clear code‑review guidelines, using tools for automation, and focusing on constructive feedback to ensure efficient reviews and high‑quality code.
  • Mentoring mid‑level developers and providing technical guidance to the team.
  • Contributing to technical documentation and software architecture decisions.
  • Managing artifacts generated from GitLab using Artifactory and facilitating customer deliveries through Nexus.
  • Implementing security measures and data‑protection protocols.
  • Working with VMware Workstation to create and manage virtualized development environments on local machines.
  • Participating in Agile methodologies as a member of a scrum team, conducting peer reviews, attending Agile ceremonies, sprint planning, daily stand‑ups, retrospectives, and backlog grooming using JIRA for ticket management and Confluence for documentation.
  • Implementing a systematic approach, including profiling, testing, and refactoring, to troubleshoot, debug, and optimize code for maximum performance.
Programming Languages & Frameworks
  • Java, JavaFX & C++ – Required.
  • Dependency injection with Guice – Desired.
Version Control Systems And CI/CD
  • Git & GitLab – Required.
  • DevSecOps principles and practices – Required.
Development And Build Tools
  • Gradle, SonarQube, VMware Workstation, Artifactory, & Nexus – Desired.

Work Schedule

5/40. The ability to work non‑standard work hours and schedules in support of project requirements.

Pay Range

165,000.00 to 200,000.00 annually, DOE.

U.S. Citizenship Is Required

U.S. Citizenship is required for this position.

Security Clearance

Candidates must have an active clearance or the ability to obtain a US Government security clearance and will be subject to a US security background investigation (favorable background investigation / credit score). Additional eligibility requirements for access to various levels of classified information may also be required. An active security clearance is highly desirable.
