Job description

Software Dev Engineer-II, AWS Infra Supply Chain Automation

AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. In other words, we’re the people who keep the cloud running. We support all AWS data centers and all of the servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment that ensure our customers have continual access to the innovation they rely on. We work on the most challenging problems, with thousands of variables impacting the supply chain — and we’re looking for talented people who want to help.

You’ll join a diverse team of software, hardware, and network engineers, supply chain specialists, security experts, operations managers, and other vital roles. You’ll collaborate with people across AWS to help us deliver the highest standards for safety and security while providing seemingly infinite capacity at the lowest possible cost for our customers. And you’ll experience an inclusive culture that welcomes bold ideas and empowers you to own them to completion.

These are all greenfield projects offering a rare opportunity to build systems from the ground up. You will be part of a new organization within AWS building large scale distributed applications. We will be designing and developing these systems from scratch utilizing technologies and frameworks like reactive micro services, serverless computing and distributed NoSQL data stores.

If you have a solid understanding of fundamental algorithms and system design and are able to produce bulletproof code, we are looking for you. To succeed in this role, you must be passionate about delivering high-quality designs and components. You must be creative in solving hard problems and unafraid to think out-of-the-box.

Key job responsibilities
  1. Solve complex architecture and business problems to come up with extensible solutions.
  2. Write high quality code that are modular, functional and testable.
  3. Formally mentor junior engineers on design, coding and troubleshooting.
  4. Communicate, collaborate and work effectively in a global environment.
Minimum Requirements
  1. Several years of non-internship professional software development experience.
  2. Several years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience.
  3. Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, certification, and livesite operations.
  4. Experience programming with at least one software programming language.
  5. Bachelor's degree or equivalent.
