Amazon Kuiper Manufacturing Enterprises LLC is seeking a Software Dev Engineer II for Atlas Telemetry. You will build systems to ingest, process, and visualize satellite telemetry data, and create real-time monitoring to detect anomalies and alert stakeholders.

Responsibilities include developing mission-critical software, collaborating with teams to establish a robust Leo software foundation, and onboarding new engineers while using AWS and Amazon technologies for reliable services.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of non-internship software development experience.
  • 2+ years in design or architecture of large systems.
  • 1+ years of software engineer or related experience.
  • 1+ years of distributed or multi-tiered software applications across languages (C#, C++, Java, or Perl).
  • 1+ years of Object Oriented Design experience.

Amazon Leo is Amazon’s low Earth orbit satellite network. Our mission is to deliver fast, reliable internet connectivity to customers beyond the reach of existing networks. Your work will include:
  • Creating systems and services for ingesting, processing, and visualizing vast amounts of satellite telemetry data
  • Building real-time monitoring systems to identify anomalies, detect emerging trends, and proactively alert stakeholders to critical situations that require intervention
  • Ensuring extremely high reliability, uptime, and performance across systems that receive and manage telemetry streams from thousands of endpoint

The systems we build serve a fundamental role in the successful functioning of the satellite constellation, and several supporting teams. They depend on us to have mission-critical reliability, uptime, and performance.

Due to applicable export control laws and regulations, candidates must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (i.e., current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.

About the team

The Atlas software engineering group is responsible for developing and maintaining the critical software infrastructure that enables multi-region telemetry data ingestion, health monitoring, and trend analysis across Amazon's Leo systems. As the core team building and managing these foundational data pipelines and analytics systems, the Atlas team bears significant ownership and responsibility to ensure high availability, performance, and scalability are met to satisfy business needs.

Basic Qualifications
  • 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
  • 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
  • 1+ years of software development engineer or related occupational experience
  • 1+ years of designing and developing large-scale, multi-tiered, multi-threaded, embedded or distributed software applications, tools, systems, and services using: C#, C++, Java, or Perl experience
  • 1+ years of Object Oriented Design experience
  • Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field
  • Experience programming with at least one software programming language
Preferred Qualifications
  • 3+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign‑on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location. Amazon also offers comprehensive benefits including health insurance (medical, dental, vision, prescription, Basic Life & AD&D insurance and option for Supplemental life plans, EAP, Mental Health Support, Medical Advice Line, Flexible Spending Accounts, Adoption and Surrogacy Reimbursement coverage), 401(k) matching, paid time off, and parental leave.
