Job summary

Optimum, a leading provider of Mobile, Broadband and Video services in the United States, seeks a DevOps Toolchain Engineer I to join a skilled team building tools and automation for faster, higher-quality software delivery.

You will help shape our CI/CD pipelines, define testing metrics, and advance our developer tools program, while collaborating with engineering to Go Fast and support our nationwide services.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field.
• 1-2 years of hands-on experience in DevOps, GitOps, software development, and automation.
• Proficiency in Python, Java, or Golang.
• Proficient in the Google Cloud environment.
• Understanding of DevSecOps practices and modern software methodologies.
• Experience automating test cases (unit, functional, end-to-end).
• Experience implementing and optimizing CI/CD pipelines (GitLab/GitHub Actions).
• Experience with IaC tools like Terraform/Ansible.
• Experience with Selenium or Cypress for test automation.
• Knowledge of monitoring/observability tools: Prometheus, Grafana, Splunk.
• Familiarity with JIRA and Git.
• Experience with TDD, A/B testing, and continuous testing.
• Ability to lead process improvement and measure testing metrics.
• Understanding of software quality metrics (defect rates, test coverage).
• Experience in software architecture and design principles.
• Ability to create PoC prototypes for technical solutions.
• Collaborative with cross-functional teams to drive adoption.
• Strong analytical skills for diagnosing technical challenges.
• Passion for a developer-friendly environment.
• Experience optimizing data formats and data locality for performance.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to the software tools roadmap and accelerate development teams.
• Implement a CI/CD pipeline used across broadband, video, mobile, and customer support apps.
• Identify, document, and track software defects and coordinate fixes with development teams.
• Introduce capabilities for effective A/B testing across test populations.
• Lead process-improvement initiatives for testing practices and tools.
• Monitor and report on key quality metrics like defect rates and test coverage.
• Leverage tools and test automation to accelerate releases to customers.
• Instrument and monitor systems with out-of-the-box tools.
• Create and maintain a knowledge base for developer tools and processes.
• Establish key results for the development pipeline and automation test frameworks.
• Use prototypes to explore architecture and designs for solutions.
• Be a go-to advocate for developer tools in the organization.
• Foster a developer-friendly environment and drive tool adoption across teams.
