Overview

We are seeking a passionate, talented, and inventive Software Development Engineer II (SDEII) to join the Applied AI team and work on LLM-based solutions. The role involves developing and maintaining systems and tools that enable scalable knowledge operations and applying ML and Generative AI techniques to support Amazon’s eCommerce business. You will collaborate with stakeholders to design, architect, and implement high-quality software that drives customer value.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain software using Python, Java, container-based development, SageMaker, PyTorch, PyTorch Lightning, Langchain, and related tools.
• Ensure code quality, security, testability, maintainability, and efficiency; follow and enforce high development standards.
• Work fairly independently while collaborating with Applied Scientists, Product Managers, Technical Program Managers, Software Development Managers, Solution Architects, and Documentation Writers.
• Integrate new software components into partner codebases, considering roadblocks and required concerns.
• Apply distributed system design patterns to current and emerging ML domains with guidance from senior engineers.
• actively participate in code reviews, design discussions, and team planning to help evolve the team's capabilities and remove blockers.

Basic Qualifications

• 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience.
• 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture experience (design patterns, reliability, and scaling) of new and existing systems.
• Experience programming with at least one software programming language.

Preferred Qualifications

• 3+ years of full software development life cycle experience, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations.
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or equivalent.

Compensation and Benefits

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package may include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
