Job summary

Bruker is seeking an Automation Software Engineer for on-site work in San Jose, CA. The role focuses on designing and developing image processing and hardware control software for TSOM surface metrology applications, enabling precise data acquisition and analysis.

You will collaborate with scientists, application specialists, and engineers across the lifecycle, implementing SECS/GEM equipment automation and maintaining motors and stages in a Windows environment.

Qualifications

The Tribology, Stylus, and Optical Metrology Software group is hiring an Automation Software Engineer to participate in the design and development of TSOM’s surface metrology applications, with a primary focus on the development of image processing algorithms and solutions. These applications control precision equipment and acquire and analyze data using image processing and 2D signal processing techniques in order to provide meaningful and accurate metrology results to the user. As Automation Software Engineer, you work as part of a collaborative, multidisciplinary team with scientists, application specialists, and other engineers on all phases of the software development lifecycle.

Responsibilities:

• Design and implement equipment automation implementations following the SECS/GEM and GEM 300 standard for our optical profiler tools
• Develop improve and maintainable hardware control (motors and stages) implementations for motors, stages, and other hardware components
• Implement with professional quality in C++ and/or C# code
• Interact effectively and professionally with customers and internal team members, including globally distributed team
• Occasional travel required

Qualifications:

• 10+ years of relevant automated manufacturing semiconductor equipment
• Track record of automation and hardware control implementations
• Strong skills with SECS/GEM protocol, tool characterization, semiconductor manufacturing equipment
• Proficiency with C++ and/or C# development in a Windows desktop environment
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively with a geographically distributed team
• BS/MS in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, related technical field or equivalent technical experience
• Minimum 10 years of professional software development experience

At Bruker, base salary is part of our total compensation. The estimated base salary range for this full-time position is between $132,959 and $192,300. You will have the ability to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base salary for the role will depend on several job-related factors, including, but not limited to education, training, experience, the geographic location of the successful candidate, skills, competencies, job-related knowledge, and travel requirements for this position.
