Bring passion and dedication to your job and there's no telling what you could accomplish.Human Research and Engineering Solutions supports Hardware Engineering's ability to develop Apple's iconic products by developing and managing the critical tools, licenses, and workflows our engineers rely on every day.

Description

We're looking for a sharp, execution-focused Software Asset Program Manager to take ownership of high-impact operations in our software license management space, from tracking usage and renewals to partnering with engineers when they hit access issues. You'll own end-to-end management of a large, dynamic portfolio of engineering software licenses and tokens across multiple vendors, sitting at the intersection of engineering, Procurement, and vendor management. The ideal candidate has strong organizational and analytical skills, moves fluidly between technical detail and business-level decision-making, and enjoys working cross-functionally to keep engineering workflows running smoothly.

Responsibilities
  • Own and maintain an accurate inventory of software licenses, including feature-level tracking when necessary to enable proactive management.
  • Proactively track, forecast, and drive license renewals on a recurring cadence, collaborating with Procurement, engineering teams, and vendors to avoid disruptions in service and align renewals with business needs.
  • Monitor and assess license and token usage to identify optimization opportunities and recommend changes to reduce cost and improve efficiency.
  • Provide input for contract negotiations, considering factors such as user workflow needs, business flexibility, scalability, and cost.
  • Partner with engineering support and IT teams to triage and help resolve license availability, entitlement, or token-consumption issues affecting engineers' workflows.
  • Identify and drive process improvement opportunities in the software license space to create efficiencies and improve overall outcomes.
  • Consolidate, validate, and analyze large datasets from multiple sources to drive intelligent decision-making.
  • Leverage quantitative and qualitative business insights to develop, communicate, and implement smart business decisions.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree and 7+ years of progressive experience in a related discipline.
  • 5+ years of demonstrated program and project management experience, including ownership and management of complex portfolios.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage inventories, track usage, and ensure compliance with legal agreements.
  • Strong analytical skills, working hands-on with data to connect it to real-world decisions.
  • Aptitude for blending qualitative and quantitative data to formulate and drive a clear plan and related communications.
  • Experience working with external stakeholders or vendors.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with usage analytics or reporting tools.
  • Familiarity with different software license and consumption models (e.g., node-locked, floating, subscription, token/credit-based).
  • Experience in reading and interpreting legal documents such as contracts and amendments.
  • Familiarity with engineering-specific software applications (e.g., Ansys, MATLAB, AutoCAD, SolidWorks, etc.).
  • Experience supporting or troubleshooting technical issues for end users, even informally, is a plus. While this role isn't a help-desk role, comfort being a point of contact when engineers hit issues is valuable.
