About the

• We are hiring a software architect for Canonical LXD and MicroCloud. You will drive the architecture, design, and evolution of LXD, a modern Golang system container and virtual machine orchestrator, and MicroCloud, which combines LXD with Ceph and OVN for cloud infrastructure. The role involves leading the architecture, mentoring colleagues, developing in Golang and C, reviewing code, and ensuring security and performance.

This is a home-based position available in EMEA and the Americas.

• Lead the architecture of LXD and MicroCloud
• Mentor and develop team members
• Develop software in Golang and C
• Review code and ensure security and performance
• Display technical leadership within Canonical and the community
• Travel twice annually for company events
• Exceptional academic record and degree in Computer Science or STEM
• Experience with Go and C
• Knowledge of storage, networking, virtualization, and container technologies
• Experience with distributed systems and concurrency
• Proficiency in Linux (Debian or Ubuntu)
• Strong interpersonal skills, curiosity, flexibility, and accountability
