Job summary

GDIT is seeking an experienced Software Applications Tester to support government activities. The role involves building scalable, high‑performance backend services using a microservices architecture and testing web and client/server apps with Java, Groovy, TypeScript/JavaScript, HTML and CSS.

You will work in an Agile environment, perform automated and manual testing, and collaborate with developers, product owners and other testers.

GDIT is seeking an experienced Software Applications Tester to join our team of building scalable, maintainable and high-performance backend services using a microservices architecture. As a Software Tester supporting the customer, you will be trusted to solve complex IT issues while delivering outstanding customer service. GDIT is seeking highly cleared candidates with active TS SCI w/ Poly to provide software development, engineering, database design and Software Testing in support of enterprise‑wide systems and products for the Intelligence Community (IC). Work with the latest commercial products such as AWS and ServiceNow in an Agile environment on various applications designed and maintained for a broad range of IC customers.

Required Experience With

• Demonstrated hands‑on experience writing automated, and manual, test‑cases and testing web and client/server applications using Java, Groovy, Typescript/Javascript, HTML, CSS
• Demonstrated hands‑on experience with Spring Boot, Hibernate/JPA - understanding concepts involved and the architecture
• Demonstrated hands‑on experience with frontend frameworks such as Vue, React, or Angular - understanding the concepts involved and the architecture
• Demonstrated hands‑on experience with database design and querying (SQL, Oracle)
• Demonstrated hands‑on experience with software version control using Git (GitHub, GitLab, etc.)
• Demonstrated hands‑on experience with testing APIs and services using REST
• Extensive experience working in an Agile environment
• Demonstrated experience understanding software development lifecycle (SDLC) and how testing fits in (e.g. unit, integration, system, acceptance testing)
• Demonstrated experience with ability to create simple test cases/scenarios based on requirements, including positive/negative cases, preconditions, steps, and expected results. Execute them manually and log outcomes
• Demonstrated experience with recognizing bugs, understanding severity/priority, and reporting them clearly (e.g. stepts to reproduce, screenshots, expected vs. actual behavior).
• Demonstrated experience with knowledge of when to use automate vs. manual testing
• Demonstrated experience working with developers, product owners, and other testers; understanding feedback loops
• Demonstrated experience spotting inconsistencies, edge cases, and subtle issues that others might miss
• Demonstrated experience with clearly documenting test cases, explaining failures to stakeholders, and working in Agile/Scrum teams
• Demonstrated experience maintaining test plans, logs, and traceability matrices to link tests to requirements
• Hands‑on experience breaking down requirements into testable parts, analyzing root causes of failures, and verifying fixes
• Hands‑on experience with prioritizing tests, meeting deadlines, and adapting to changing requirements in fast passed environments
• Hands‑on experience using JAWS with ZoomText Magnifier Tool

Desired Skills

• Demonstrated hands‑on experience with Linux or Windows systems, and writing scripts in each environment.
• Demonstrated hands‑on experience with build automation tools like Gradle, Maven, Jenkins, etc. - understanding the concepts involved and functionality
• General knowledge of the JUnit testing framework
• Demonstrated experience with application servers like WebSphere or Tomcat - understanding of the functionality and role in web‑architecture
• Demonstrated experience with IBM Maximo - as a user, and understanding of the different modules, and the general architecture
• Good working knowledge of Katalon Sudio v8.6.5 64‑bit (Windows 11) or lower versions, or prior experience with Selenium (Windows 11 based) or Cypress
• Hands on experience with creating and executing test scripts using Katalon’s record‑and‑playback feature, Groovy scripting for custom logic, and built‑in keywords for actions like clicks, assertions, and waits
• Hands‑on experience debugging Katalon scripts, handling flaky tests, and adapting to changing requirements
• Knowledge of JIRA to log defects, work issues, and collaborate with developers
• Knowledge of browser dev tools (e.g. Chrome Inspector for inspecting elements), screen capture tools, and basic spreadsheets (Excel/Google Sheets) for test data and tracking
• Demonstrated experience with Amazon Web Service (AWS)
• Willingness to learn new tools or processes

The likely salary range for this position is $193,800 - $262,200. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
