Job summary

Cheverus High School in Portland, Maine seeks a dedicated Head Softball Coach to lead our program for the 2027 spring season. The role reports to the athletic department and focuses on building competitive teams while upholding Jesuit values.

Candidates should have prior successful softball coaching and/or playing experience, and must complete required state CHRC fingerprinting and NFHS online trainings upon hiring.

Qualifications

• Prior successful softball coaching and/or playing experience is preferred.
• Must hold or acquire a current State of Maine Department of Education CHRC and fingerprinting prior to employment.
• NFHS trainings to be completed upon hiring: Concussion Management, Heat Acclimatization, Sudden Cardiac Arrest, Suicide Prevention, and CPR/First Aid.

Responsibilities

• Lead the softball coaching staff for the 2027 spring season at Cheverus High School.
• Develop and mentor student-athletes to compete at a high level while upholding school values.
• Coordinate with the athletic department to ensure program compliance and safety training.

Head Softball Coach

Located in Portland, Maine, Cheverus High School is a Private Catholic College Preparatory School sponsored by the Society of Jesus. Salary Range: $4,000 - $6,000 for the season

Qualifications Prior successful softball coaching and/or playing experience is preferred. Applicants must hold or acquire a current State of Maine Department of Education Criminal History Records Check (CHRC) and fingerprinting via the DOE prior to employment.

Fingerprinting Information NFHS Required Online Trainings upon hiring: Concussion Management, Heat Acclimatization, Sudden Cardiac Arrest and Suicide Prevention Training as well as CPR/First Aid (which we provide onsite).
