Job summary

The School District of Lee County seeks a responsible Softball Head Coach for Gateway High in Fort Myers, FL. The role involves organizing practices, developing game plans, and guiding student-athletes academically and athletically.

You will mentor players, promote discipline, ensure compliance with rules, and coordinate with the athletic director on scheduling and budgets. Evening/weekend duties and strong communicators are essential.

Qualifications

• Prior coaching experience at the high school or competitive youth level.
• Valid Florida teaching certificate or valid Department of Education athletic coaching certificate.
• Valid FHSAA certification.
• Valid Adult and Child First Aid/CPR/AED certificate issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
• Any appropriate combination of relevant education, experience, and/or certifications may be considered.
• Valid Florida Driver's License.

Responsibilities

• Plan, organize, and conduct regular practice sessions.
• Develop and implement game strategies and tactics.
• Teach fundamental skills, techniques, and sports rules to student-athletes.
• Supervise student-athletes during practices, games, and school-sponsored trips.
• Monitor academic progress and support students in balancing athletics and academics.
• Promote discipline, responsibility, and good sportsmanship among players.
• Ensure compliance with school, district, and state athletic regulations.
• Manage and maintain team equipment and uniforms.
• Collaborate with the athletic director on scheduling, budget, and facility use.
• Maintain open communication with parents and guardians.
• Provide mentorship and guidance to student-athletes on personal development and college opportunities.
• Enforce all school policies and codes of conduct.
• Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
