Job summary

Washington County Schools (TN) seeks an Assistant Coach to guide student athletes, supervise practices and contests, and promote teamwork and sportsmanship.

Responsibilities include coordinating tryouts, evaluating skill, planning practices, teaching rules and techniques, monitoring academic eligibility, and maintaining records. A high school diploma is required, with prior coaching or athletic program experience preferred.

Qualifications

• Not less than a high school education or GED.
• At least one year of experience is preferred, but not required, with training may perform in the role.

Responsibilities

• Holds tryouts for team prospects and encourages student participation.
• Assesses skills and assigns team positions.
• Develops regular practice schedules for individual and team development.
• Coaches and instructs players on rules, equipment, and techniques of the sport.
• Monitors academic performance to maintain eligibility.
• Models sportsmanship and communicates with administrators and spectators regarding policies and performances.
• Maintains eligibility forms, emergency data, physicals, and inventory.
