Job summary

Napa Valley Unified School District is seeking an experienced Softball Assistant Coach for American Canyon High School to develop players and support the school’s athletic program.

The role requires coaching experience with student-athletes at the high school level and completion of required certifications. A booster stipend is awarded at season end, and coordination with the ACHS staff and booster club is expected.

Qualifications

• Experience in the sport, coaching experience, and a track record of working with student-athletes at the high school level.
• Must obtain First Aid/CPR, NFHS Fundamentals of Coaching, NFHS Sudden Cardiac Arrest, NFHS Concussion in Sports and Heat and Illness prevention, and all Napa Valley Unified School District requirements.

Responsibilities

• Coach softball at American Canyon High School as part of the school athletic program.
• Collaborate with staff, administration, and booster clubs to support student-athletes and program goals.
• Foster sportsmanship, safety, and character development in line with school and district expectations.

Requirements / Qualifications

The Softball Assistant Coach is currently being offered at American Canyon High School. Candidates should be experienced in the sport, have coaching experience and a resume of working with student-athletes at the high school level. Applicants will be required to obtain First Aid/CPR, NFHS Fundamentals of Coaching, NFHS Sudden Cardiac Arrest, NFHS Concussion in Sports and Heat and Illness prevention, as well as all other Napa Valley Unified School District requirements The season begins in February and ends in May. The Assistant Coach receives a Booster Stipend at the end of the season. Must be willing and able to work with our ACHS staff, student athletes, parent's administration, and American Canyon High Athletic Booster Club. Must have basic knowledge of the following: 1) Character-building aspects of sports, including techniques and methods of teaching and reinforcing the core values comprising sportsmanship and good character; 2) Knowledge of physical capacities and limitations of the age group coached; 3) Coaching principles related to educational philosophy, adolescent; psychology, nutrition, risk management and the rules and strategies of the sport;
