Job summary

Columbus Technical College is seeking a part‑time adjunct instructor to teach sociology. The instructor will prepare lesson plans, evaluate student progress, academically advise students, and participate in professional development activities on campus.

The role includes day and evening instruction, potential travel within the service area, and occasional weekends. Salary is commensurate with education and experience.

Qualifications

• Master's Degree from a regionally accredited college or university in sociology.
• OR Master’s Degree from a regionally accredited college or university with a concentration of at least 18 graduate hours in sociology.

Responsibilities

• Organizes and conducts classes using a variety of learning experiences and activities.
• Evaluates students’ progress in attaining goals and objectives.
• Develops course outlines, goals, and objectives in line with state standards.
• Ensures consistency in syllabi, lesson plans, tests, and other course work.
• Maintains documentation and submits administrative reports promptly.
• Communicates student progress to students and relevant staff.
• Keeps up with current trends and developments in the field by attending staff development activities.
• Performs other duties as assigned by Columbus Technical College.
