Job summary

Kansas City School District – Success Academy Anderson in Kansas City, MO seeks a Social Worker – Student Intervention to support students with personal, emotional and social challenges impacting school adjustment. Reports to the Principal in the School Leadership department.

The role requires a Master’s in Social Work, 2+ years of clinical intervention experience, and ability to coordinate with families, teachers and agencies. Exempt, 12-month year, full-time position.

Qualifications

• Masters Degree in Social Work required.
• Minimum of two years experience in individual and small group clinical intervention.
• Experience working with Local, State or Federal Agencies.
• Strong written and oral communication skills.
• Strong organizational skills.
• Ability to work flexible hours.

Responsibilities

• Provide brief solution focused clinical interventions, conflict resolution and brokerage services to students, families and teachers.
• Perform services with parents to increase participation and resources and provide classroom consultation and behavior modification strategies to teachers.
• Provide referrals to social service agencies to students, families and faculty as needed; participate as a member of school treatment team.
• Monitor homeless students’ attendance to achieve a 95% attendance goal.
• Maintain accurate, complete and confidential consumer files; present staff in-service or arrange for such in-services.
• Maintain and update current records on students as required by Kansas City Public Schools and State and keep Regional Registry updated.
• Assist unaccompanied youth in finding housing, food and additional social services.
• Provide monthly written status reports on each student.

Purpose of Job: To help students resolve such personal, emotional, and social problems as interfere with their adjustment to school and their capacity to enjoy the fullest benefits of the education offered during the regular school year as well as summer school.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Provide brief solution focused clinical interventions, conflict resolution and brokerage services to students, families and teachers.
• Perform services with parents as an integral part of the task of helping students, to increase the parents’ understanding, their constructive participation in resolving their child’s problems, and their knowledge and use of appropriate resources available. Provide class room consultation and behavior modification strategies to teachers.
• Provide referrals to all social service agencies to students, families and faculty as needed. Participate as a member of school treatment team.
• Monitor and work with homeless students’ attendance to obtain a 95% attendance goal.
