Job description

Bronson Behavioral Health Hospital is looking for a Part-Time Social Worker for Weekends. The Inpatient Clinician is responsible for planning, directing, defining, and coordinating individualized and group therapeutic support and services to patients with behavioral problems, psychiatric disorders, post-traumatic stress disorder, substance abuse, and physical and emotional abuse.

Essential Job Functions:
  1. Conduct psychosocial assessments of patients and develop effective treatment plans that apply therapeutic principles appropriately while ensuring patient safety at all times.
  2. Obtain information on the patient’s needs, skills, interests, and limitations through patient observation and interviews with patients and families to develop and implement treatment plans.
  3. Provide crisis intervention and assist families in understanding the implications and complexities of life situations and their impact on lifestyle.
  4. Participate in multidisciplinary treatment team meetings to discuss psychosocial assessments, treatment planning, and ongoing discharge planning.
  5. Identify, assess, and coordinate patient cases, anticipating their needs related to illness, hospitalization, finances, education, and home/community services.
  6. Facilitate education sessions, process groups, support groups, and referrals as requested.
  7. Conduct intakes and assist in coordinating placements within facility programs.
  8. Promote recovery, symptom reduction, and the achievement of the highest level of social functioning.
  9. Communicate with or aid family members in understanding and supporting the patient.
  10. Manage a caseload and ensure accurate, timely documentation of patient charts to comply with facility and accreditation standards.
  11. Demonstrate a positive, empathetic, and professional attitude towards patients and staff. Address and work to resolve complaints when patient needs are not met, prioritizing patient safety.
Education, Experience, and Skill Requirements:
  • Master's degree in Social Work from an accredited college or university, or a recent graduate of an accredited master's degree social work program with successful completion of field education, internship, or similar practicum.
  • Two or more years of experience working with the patient population is preferred.
Licenses, Designations, and Certifications:
  • State licensure as required by the facility's operating state, which may include Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW), Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), or Licensed Social Worker (LSW).
  • CPR and de-escalation/restraint certification are required (training available upon hire).
