ALS United Greater New York's mission is to support and empower the ALS community through a collaborative approach to fostering bold research initiatives, advancing national and state advocacy, and providing comprehensive care to individuals and families affected by ALS. Our staff is professional and supportive of each other as we work together to serve ALS patients and their families.

Reporting to the Chief Care Services Officer, ALS United Greater New York is seeking an experienced licensed social worker to provide comprehensive support services and coordinate multi-disciplinary care to improve the quality of life for patients and their families living with ALS in Northern and Central New Jersey. ALS is a fatal neurodegenerative disease that requires a compassionate and committed social worker comfortable with end-of-life care.

This full-time, home-based position involves conducting virtual and in-person home visits, offering social work assessments, short-term supportive counseling, case management, and crisis intervention. Weekly in-person clinic roles in New Jersey are also required.

The position includes co-facilitating support groups for patients and caregivers, coordinating monthly educational programs (currently virtual), and participating in chapter-wide events, some on weekends and evenings.
