The Ohio State University James Cancer Hospital is seeking a Social Worker for the IRP department to provide psychosocial assessments, counseling, crisis intervention, and discharge planning for patients and families across inpatient and outpatient settings.

This role requires an MSW and Ohio social work licensure or equivalent, and includes weekend shifts; it offers opportunities to connect patients with community resources and support services.

Job Title: Social Worker - IRP Department: James | Social Work

Scope of Position Provision of social work services to inpatients, outpatients, and their families in The Ohio State University James Cancer Hospital.

IRP Social Workers cover weekends and holidays.

Position Summary Social work services include psychosocial assessments, mental health counseling, crisis intervention, financial counseling, discharge planning, health education and the provision of material resources and linkage with community agencies.

Social work services are provided to patients/families to meet their medically related social and emotional needs as they impact on their medical condition, treatment, recovery, and safe transition from one care environment to another.

Core competencies include: Psychosocial assessment, counseling and crisis intervention skills, Knowledge of the PASAAR process for extended care facility placement and the assessment and counseling processes involved, knowledge of home healthcare set-up process and skills assessing neglect/abuse, including substance abuse and domestic violence.

Minimum Qualifications For Hire: Master of Social Work from an accredited Graduate School of Social Work; State of Ohio Social Work licensure (LSW or LISW) or equivalent education/experience.
