The Social Worker III Supervisor for the Liogue Senior Center performs professional level work of considerable difficulty, providing direct supportive supervision to social services staff at the Liogue Senior Center. Incumbent provides direct support to clients, managing cases, investigating, and resolving adult abuse referrals.

Principle Duties and Responsibilities

  • Supervise staff, prioritize and assign work, conduct performance evaluations, ensure that staff is trained, ensure that employees follow policies and procedures, maintain a healthy and safe working environment, and make hiring, termination, and disciplinary recommendations.
  • Assist in coordinating and assigning Adult Protective Services (APS) cases to Social Workers and assist staff with questions.
  • Evaluate the psychosocial environment of the adult, his/her family, submit recommendations to the supervisor, and/or Tribal Prosecutor.
  • Staff on going cases on a quarterly basis and develop short-term plans for the supervision of the adult in protective custody.
  • Monitor all activities towards family preservation and make appropriate recommendations.
  • Work with families to provide services and/or referrals for service to prevent the removal of the adult from their home.
  • Coordinate with medical providers, request/recommend referral for specialized medical services, and behavioral health needs of the client.
  • Maintain case record on each client and service provided per departmental procedures.
  • Accept and investigate referrals of adult abuse and/or neglect to determine the validity of the referral, which entails interviewing the client, the parents, the reporter, and significant others.
  • Determine merit of referrals and make appropriate recommendations to the supervisor and/or Tribal Prosecutor regarding the possibility of the initiation of involuntary custody proceedings.
  • Provide casework services to clients, families, and foster families in ensuring the safety to clients in need of protective services.
  • Collaborate with Tribal Prosecutor’s Office and Law Enforcement personnel to initiate all involuntary and voluntary custody proceedings and in all dependency actions, submit required reports, and recommendations.
  • Maintain appropriate tracking of files for all APS referrals.
  • Perform other duties of a similar nature or level as requested by supervisor or director.

  • Good communication and interpersonal skills as applied to interaction with co-workers, supervisor, management, Council members, and the public. Have ability to sufficiently exchange or convey information and receive verbal and written work instructions.

Education, Certifications And Experience Required

Master’s degree in social work or related field and three (3) years professional experience in a Social Services agency focusing on family services, children, and elders preferred.

AND

  • Master’s Degree in Family Studies, Social Work, Psychology or related field;
  • One (1) to three (3) years of experience in a supervisory capacity required;
  • CISW or equivalent certification preferred;
  • Experience working with Native American population preferred.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.

Special Requirements

  • Must possess and maintain a valid Arizona Driver’s License;
  • This position will require the incumbent to work non-traditional hours, nights, and weekends;
  • Must have a current Level 1 Arizona Clearance Card, Tribal Gaming License, and Homeland Security Background Check or be able to obtain one within ninety (90) days of hire. Failure to maintain a current Level 1 Clearance Card will result in termination.
