The state supported living centers serve people with intellectual and developmental disabilities who are medically fragile or who have behavioral problems. The Social Worker III performs and documents highly complex social services work including serving as a liaison between the individual, legally authorized representative, and others to assure ongoing care, treatment, and support through person-centered practices. This position gathers information to assess the individual's support systems and service needs, participates in interdisciplinary team meetings, completes initial social histories, and maintains updates. The role may also involve supporting assessments of individual rights and capacity, providing training to promote rights exercise, and coordinating admissions, transfers, and discharges. The position may supervise others and works under limited supervision with considerable autonomy.
Maintain licensure in accordance with Texas Board of Social Work Examiners. LBSW, LMSW, or LCSW required; LMSW or LCSW preferred.
Bachelor's degree in social work with three years of social work experience, or a Master's degree in Social Work. One year of experience working directly with persons with intellectual or developmental disabilities.
Applicants must pass background checks, drug screens, registry checks, and be at least 18 years old. Flexibility for work hours, overtime, weekends, and holidays may be required.
