Job summary

City of Hope Orange County is expanding its cancer care campus in Irvine. The Clinical Social Worker III will provide timely, compassionate psychosocial support across the cancer care continuum and ensure adherence to clinical standards and accurate documentation.

The role also involves mentoring MSW students, collaborating with interdisciplinary teams, contributing to program development, and engaging in ongoing performance improvement and community outreach.

Qualifications

• MSW from an approved California Accredited School of Social Work.
• Five years medical social work experience.
• Two or more years post-licensure experience.
• Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) with California Board of Behavioral Sciences or Out of State LCSW, or Associate Clinical Social Worker with active registration.
• CSW III must pass the LCSW exam and become an LCSW in California within one year or be demoted to CSW II.
• For pediatric service, CCS Panel provider or complete application within 60 days of hire.

• Engage in continuous learning and performance improvement to enhance care delivery.
• Represent social work with professionalism through community outreach, committee service, and leadership roles.

City of Hope Orange County is transforming cancer treatment by bringing world‑class expertise and specialized care closer to home. Supported by a regional network of care, our 11‑acre academic cancer campus in Irvine is home to City of Hope Orange County Lennar Foundation Cancer Center, our outpatient cancer center, and Orange County’s only cancer specialty hospital, opening in late 2025. With the opening of the hospital the full continuum of advanced cancer care—from prevention through survivorship—will be available in Orange County for the first time, eliminating the need to travel for lifesaving treatment. Seamlessly connected to our outpatient cancer center, the new clinical research hospital will feature 73 inpatient beds, advanced surgical suites, groundbreaking clinical trials, and holistic services such as rehabilitative therapy and spiritual care.

As a successful candidate, you will:

Qualifications

• Master’s Degree in Social Work (MSW) from an approved California Accredited School of Social Work. Experience may substitute for minimum education requirements.
• Five years medical social work experience.
• Two or more years post‑licensure experience.
• Licensed Clinical Social Worker with the California Board of Behavioral Sciences or Out of State Licensed Clinical Social Worker or Active registration as an Associate Clinical Social Worker.
• CSW III must pass the LCSW exam and become a LCSW in the state of California within one year or be demoted to CSW II.
• For pediatric service, CCS Panel provider or complete application within 60 days of hire.
