A leading county organization is seeking a compassionate Social Worker dedicated to providing essential services to at-risk children and families. This role involves crisis intervention, service coordination, and legal advocacy to ensure the safety and well-being of vulnerable populations. Candidates should hold a master's degree in social work and possess the skills necessary for effective counseling and assessment.
INVESTIGATION/ASSESSMENT DUTIES: The duties of this social worker involve crisis intervention and continuous supportive services to children and families in delivering protective services mandated by state law. The main focus is on neglected and abused children, as well as children at risk.
Responsibilities include: providing direct services to protect children from neglect or abuse; receiving and evaluating referrals; planning and coordinating services with families; invoking court authority when necessary; arranging alternative care for children who cannot remain at home; and working with various stakeholders to promote safe and healthy family reunification.
TREATMENT DUTIES: The social worker will provide ongoing services to families with substantiated cases of neglect or abuse. This involves crisis response, factual assessment, and danger evaluation. The worker must possess high self-awareness, diagnostic assessment skills, and the ability to handle aggressive behaviors. Skills in coordinating services, participating in team decisions, and utilizing the court system are essential. Emphasis is placed on counseling to maintain family integrity.
This position requires extensive knowledge of attachment, separation, and reattachment processes. The worker must be emotionally supportive and aware of personal values regarding family structure, parental rights, and children's rights to love relationships.
The role involves utilizing community resources, attending meetings, and working towards permanency planning, including family counseling, crisis intervention, and court proceedings. The worker will serve high-risk families in complex situations.
Salary Information:
Social Worker II: $60,408.12 after 1 year of experience
Social Worker III: $66,599.95 after 2 years of experience
Fully qualified Social Worker IAT: $66,599.95
Minimum qualifications include a master's degree in social work or related fields, with specific experience requirements, or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Direct experience includes case management, assessment, counseling, intervention, and treatment planning.
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT: The selected applicant must have a valid North Carolina Driver's License, pass drug testing, and undergo a background check. The position may require operating a personal vehicle, assisting in emergencies, and adhering to dress code policies. College transcripts should be submitted as specified.
