Job summary

South Bend Community School Corp Adams High School in South Bend, Indiana is seeking a certified Social Worker to support students and families. The role reports to the Director of Social Workers and the principal of the assigned school, with duties spanning counseling, coordination of services, and advocacy.

• Duties may include evening and weekend work on occasion.

• Provide individual and group counseling of students and parents.
• Apply resources of the schools and community to solve student problems.
• Serve on committees and agency boards that relate to student/family populations.
• Prevention/intervention, advocacy, consultation with regard to student needs.
• Develop and facilitate various support groups, parenting classes, and in-service training for teachers.
• Work with and coordinate 504 plans and Behavior Intervention Plans for students.
• Submit abuse and neglect referrals to the Department of Child Services.
• Individual assessment and intervention.
• Support group services.
• Classroom presentations on relevant social work topics.
• Teacher consultation and/or in-service training.
• Parenting classes or parent education programs.
• Social work liaison between school and community organization.
• Other duties as assigned by administration.
