Salary Range: Contract Salary
BASIC FUNCTIONS : This candidate will be qualified and certified to teach multiple Social Studies courses including U.S Government, U.S History, Economics, World HIstory and Civilization, World Geography and History of the World, Psychology, Sociology, and/or Law Education.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Create a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and student engagement.
- Establish and maintain standards for student behavior in a climate that promotes fairness and respect.
- Plan, prepare and deliver instructional activities to engage students in problem solving, creative and critical thinking and other activities that make subject matter meaningful.
- Use a variety of instructional strategies and resources to respond to student’s diverse needs.
- Collaborate with Social Studies Colleagues to design lessons reflecting the Indiana State Standards and the Common Core Standards.
- Maintain accurate grade and attendance records.
- Use summative and formative assessments to guide instructional decision making.
- Participate in the 8-step process of instruction and remediation/enrichment.
- Communicate with parents, counselors, administration, or other appropriate school personnel to proactively solve student academic and behavior progress.
- Use available technology to support instruction.
- Is punctual and reliable in attendance and supervises students as assigned.
- Participates in professional development opportunities offered by the school corporation, and/or professional organizations.
- Follows Individual Education Plans, Behavior Supports Plans and/or 504 intervention plans to accommodate needs of students with disabilities.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must hold a valid High School Level License/Certification in the subject course areas listed.
- Ideal candidates will be certified to teach multiple social studies courses.
- Candidates must not have had a recommendation for Probation Assistance on their most recent evaluation.
- Alternative Education experience preferred.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Primary functions require sufficient physical ability and mobility to work in an office; dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard and other technologies and office equipment, sitting, standing and walking for extended periods of time; kneeling; bending at the waist; lifting; pushing; pulling and carrying equipment, supplies and materials weighing up to 25 pounds; repetitive hand movement and fine coordination to use a computer keyboard; emotional stability to work effectively under pressure and to keep all aspects of the job under control; hearing and speaking to exchange information in person or on the telephone; seeing to read; prepare and assure the accuracy of documents.
