Job description

Summary:
Under the supervision of the Director of Access at Bradley Hospital and the Director of Brown University Health's Pediatric Behavioral Health Emergency Services (LPBHES), and within hospital and department policies and procedures, the social worker assists with answering the Kids' Link hotline. The role involves offering appropriate resources or triaging youth needing a crisis assessment to the most suitable location.

Responsibilities:

  • Brown University Health employees are expected to embrace the mission of "Delivering health with care" and embody the values of Compassion, Accountability, Respect, and Excellence in all interactions with patients, customers, and colleagues.
  • Provide 40 hours per week of phone coverage and care coordination for youth referred to LPBHES.
  • Deliver clinical services consistent with best practices in empirically based assessment and care for children and families.
  • Exhibit professional conduct aligned with the NASW Code of Ethics.
  • Participate in program-related meetings such as staff meetings, clinical conferences, community meetings, and in-services.
  • Complete documentation within Lifechart according to established policies and procedures.
  • Attend social work department meetings, meet reappointment and privileging requirements, and engage in staff development activities.
  • Participate in group clinical supervision and pursue ongoing professional development.
  • Attend individual supervision sessions with the Access Supervisor and/or Director of Access.
  • Observe all hospital policies, rules, regulations, and social work department policies and procedures.
  • Participate in research or specialized activities as arranged with the Director of LPBHES.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of LPBHES or the Director of Access.

Other information:

  • BASIC KNOWLEDGE: BSW from an accredited school of Social Work.
  • Knowledge and skills necessary to provide care to children and adolescents, considering human development stages and cultural patterns.
  • EXPERIENCE: Relevant case management experience required.
  • Ability to interact professionally over the phone and with colleagues.
  • INDEPENDENT ACTION: Performs independently within department policies and practices; refers complex problems to supervisor.
  • SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY: None
