This role focuses on developing, implementing, and coordinating social work and case management services for inmates. You will help individuals strengthen their well-being and prepare for community reintegration. As a Social Worker 2, you will perform the following duties:

  • Program Coordination:Coordinate social service programs with agency staff and community organizations
  • Case Documentation:Maintain records and reports needed to manage inmate caseloads and support case planning
  • Reentry Assistance:Assist inmates with parole planning, reentry services, and community placement processes
  • Follow-Up Support:Provide follow-up services to community-placed inmates to ensure continuity of care
  • Policy Application:Apply federal, state, departmental, and facility regulations in all daily social work tasks
  • Complaint Review:Investigate complaints or allegations of human rights violations and verify needed information

Work Schedule and Additional Information
  • Full-time employment, 37.5 hours per week
  • Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
  • Telework:You will not have the option to telework in this position.
  • Salary:In some cases, the starting salary may be non‑negotiable. Additional pay will be considered for those who currently possess or obtain licensure as a Social Worker, Clinical Social Worker, or Professional Counselor issued by the Pennsylvania State Board of Social Workers, Marriage and Family Therapist and Professional Counselors. Documentation will need to be provided at interview to receive additional pay consideration.

QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements
  • Two years of experience as a Social Worker 1 or Forensic Social Worker 1 (Commonwealth job titles or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration)(must have been employed in a commonwealth social worker job title on September 8, 2008, with continuous commonwealth employment);
  • Two years of experience as a Social Worker 1 or a Forensic Social Worker 1 and a bachelor’s degree in social work or social welfare;
  • Two years of professional experience providing direct public or private social work services, and a bachelor’s degree in social work or social welfare;
  • A master's degree in social work or social welfare.
  • Applicants will be considered to have met the educational requirements once they are within 3 months of graduating with a qualifying degree.
Special Requirement
  • You must obtain Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) certification within two months of hire and maintain it for the duration of employment in the job.
Other Requirements
  • Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required.
