Job summary

ACCEL Schools is hiring a qualified School Special Education Social Worker for Barber Preparatory Academy in Highland Park, MI. This role supports students through goal setting, behavior management, and coordination of needed community services.

You will participate in student evaluations for special education eligibility, provide individual/group sessions for IEP requirements, and collaborate with families, staff, and administration on behavior plans and attendance initiatives.

Qualifications

• Ability to express self clearly, both orally and in writing.
• Knowledge of productivity applications such as Microsoft Office (word processing, spreadsheets, database, and presentation software) is required.
• Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
• Exhibit high level of professionalism with the ability to handle confidential information, use good judgment, plan and handle complex projects, and maintain a flexible attitude.
• Ability to take initiative; work well with others as a collaborative team member and exhibit good communication skills.
• Interest in working with adolescents with special needs.

About the Opportunity

• State of Michigan Preliminary School Social Worker (9SSWC), Professional School Social Worker (PSWC), School Social Worker Permit (SSWP), or School Social Worker Full Approval.
• Master’s degree in social work or related field.

• Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of educators, students and the general public.
