Job Description As a Social Work Lecturer and Practicum Liaison in the Department of Sociology, Social Work, and Criminology, this faculty position will provide oversight and guidance to the practicum students located in the northern part of the state, as well as engage in instruction at the BASW and MSW level as needed. The position will be structured as an 9-month, full-time practicum liaison and assistant lecturer position. The instructional workload will include teaching field practicum seminars and other social work courses during the Fall and Spring semesters; providing department, college, and university service, as well as service to the profession and community; and participation in the ISU INCLUDE II program. Practicum oversight duties will include recruiting, maintaining, and strengthening field agency relationships in preparation for placing, supervising, and evaluating students in their practicum placements at these local social service agencies, as well as coordinating with the BASW and MSW Practicum Directors at ISU to ensure consistent policies and procedures. As part of this position, the successful candidate will be expected to take a key role in the INCLUDE II program, an ISU initiative that seeks to provide social work counseling services to students, teachers, administrators, and parents in rural school districts across Idaho. This work will include providing telemental health services as needed, as well as serving as supervisor to MSW students completing their practicums within the program. The ideal candidate for this position will be an enthusiastic and engaged social worker with strong ties to the social work community in the Northern Idaho area and experience with telehealth services and substance abuse/chemical dependency evaluation and treatment. This candidate will be an engaged teacher and will have the ability to incorporate real-world social work practice into their teaching in order to prepare students for success and service in future social work jobs and professional opportunities. As the North Idaho based representative of our Social Work programs, this position will involve interfacing with social work agencies in the region, being actively involved in student recruitment efforts as well as managing articulation agreements with local and regional colleges and universities, andpotentially participating in fundraising activities. Key Responsibilities ●Teach courses within the BASW and MSW program curriculum.
● Supervise practicum students.
● Provide clinical services and student supervision as part of the INCLUDE II program.
● Build and maintain relationships with practicum sites and other institutions in Northern Idaho, Washington, and Montana.
Minimum Qualifications ● MSW from a CSWE accredited program. ● Five (5) years post-MSW social work practice experience.
● At least two (2) years post-MSW social work practice experience.
● Currently licensed as an LCSW in the state of Idaho, or eligible to obtain licensure as an LCSW in the state of Idaho. (Idaho State licensure at the LCSW level or higher will be required within six (6) months of start date.)
● Ability to contribute to the INCLUDE II program (described above), including providing telehealth services and supervision of MSW practicum students.
● Ability to teach evening and online (synchronous & asynchronous) courses.
Preferred Qualifications
● Experience working with social work students, especially in field settings.
● Knowledge of social services state-wide with specific emphasis in Northern Idaho.
● Familiarity with social work curricula, practice competencies, and the integration of field instruction into social work curricula.
● Demonstrated success using interpersonal and written communication skills, including the ability to build collaborative partnerships with diverse stakeholders.
● Experience working with historically underrepresented communities such as indigenous communities, people of color, LGBTQ2S+, and multiple-identity people.
● Experience teaching in a postsecondary educational setting.
● Experience in organizational planning and evaluation in a social work setting.
● Experience assisting in the development and implementation of educational or training curricula.
● Ability to develop and/or teach courses on substance abuse/chemical dependency evaluation and treatment, or trauma-informed practice.
Additional Information
