Job summary

North Georgia Technical College in Clarkesville, GA, is seeking a part-time Social Work Assistant Instructor to provide instruction in the theory and practical applications of social work assisting. Online or on-campus courses may be required.

The instructor will organize and conduct classes using a variety of learning experiences and activities. The position requires a Master’s degree in social work or a related field with relevant graduate hours, along with demonstrated teaching or social work

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in social work or related field with 18 graduate hours in social work.
  • Minimum 3 years full-time paid in-field teaching and/or social work experience within last seven years.
  • Ability to organize and conduct classes using varied learning experiences and activities.

Responsibilities

  • Providing professional instruction based on approved course syllabus.
  • Ensuring that desired course outcomes meet the stated objectives.
  • Preparing curriculum and syllabus for coursework taught.
  • Evaluating students’ progress in attaining goals and objectives.
  • Administering and grading class examinations.
  • Maintaining records of student grades.
  • Attending in-service training, workshops, and seminars, as needed.
  • Ensuring safety and security requirements are met in the training areas.
  • Assisting with retention efforts.
  • Meeting with students, staff members, supervisors, as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.

POSITION: Social Work Assistant Instructor; Part-Time

LOCATION: Clarkesville, GA

DESCRIPTION: Provide instruction in the theory and practical applications of Social Work Assistants. Organize and conduct classes using a variety of learning experiences and activities. The Social Work Assistant Instructor is responsible for performing all aspects of instruction for the program.Online or on campus courses may be required. Major duties include:

  • Providing professional instruction based on approved course syllabus
  • Ensuring that desired course outcomes meet the stated objectives
  • Preparing curriculum and syllabus for coursework taught
  • Evaluating students’ progress in attaining goals and objectives
  • Administering and grading class examinations
  • Maintaining records of student grades
  • Attending in-service training, workshops, and seminars, as needed
  • Ensuring safety and security requirements are met in the training areas
  • Assisting with retention efforts
  • Meeting with students, staff members, supervisors, as needed
  • Other duties as assigned

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Master’s degree in social work OR Master’s degree in related field with 18 graduate semester hours in Social Work AND a minimum of 3 years of full time, paid, in-field teaching AND/OR experience with social work within the last seven years

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience developing lesson outlines and materials, presenting subject matter, and administering tests
  • Knowledge of student information systems, Microsoft Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams, Excel), computers, and job-related software programs
  • Oral and written communication skills
  • Experience with interpersonal relations and in dealing with adult learners

Minimum qualifications for this position will be determined by the teaching discipline and compliance with appropriate accrediting bodies. Faculty must be credentialed to satisfy all appropriate accrediting bodies for the course assigned.
