Job Description:

  • Demonstrate a thorough knowledge and competence of subject matter associated with teaching assignment.
  • Assess the accomplishments of students on a regular basis and provide progress reports as required.
  • Meet and instruct assigned classes in the locations and at the times designated.
  • Prepare lessons for all content areas.
  • Integrate technology into lessons to support student achievement.
  • Develop and maintain a classroom environment conducive to effective learning within the limits of the resources provided by the school.
  • Encourage students to set and maintain standards of classroom behavior.
  • Strive to implement, by instruction and action, the district’s philosophy of education and instructional goals and objectives.
  • Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials and facilities.
  • Maintain accurate, complete and correct records as required by law, School Committee Policy and administrative regulations.
  • Assist in upholding and enforcing school rules, administrative regulations and School Committee policy.
  • Accept a share of responsibility for supervising and monitoring both formal and informal non-classroom activities.
  • Work to establish and maintain open lines of communication with students and their parents concerning both the broad academic and behavioral progress of all assigned students.
  • Attend professional meetings, educational conferences, and teacher training workshops in order to maintain and improve professional competence.
  • Attend staff meetings, and serve on committees as required.
  • Collaborate with other teachers and paraprofessionals as appropriate and necessary.
Compensation
  • Initial Rate: $125 per day for the first 20 days.
  • Long-Term Rate: On the 21st day, compensation increases to the Bachelor's Step 1 salary rate ($58,859.68 annually, prorated), applied retroactively to day one.
