Social Studies Teacher/ Assistant Boys Basketball/ Football Coach (Grades: 9-12) - (RTP20250613-023)

Description

Provide students with appropriate learning activities and experiences designed to help them fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth. Enable students to develop competencies and skills to function successfully in society. Assist and support the building principal to ensure the on-site administration and execution of the district's educational programs, policies, and regulations, and provide quality instruction for all students in a safe and healthy environment.

Responsibilities include:

  1. Develop and implement lesson plans that fulfill the requirements of the district's curriculum program, with written evidence of preparation.
  2. Prepare lessons that accommodate differences in student learning styles.
  3. Present subject matter according to guidelines established by the Texas Education Agency, Board of Trustee policies, and administrative regulations.
  4. Establish and maintain standards of pupil behavior.
  5. Establish a system of student evaluation within prescribed guidelines.
  6. Evaluate and record students’ progress and report to parents as needed.
  7. Teach within the prescribed course of study for the subject and grade level.
  8. Plan lessons leading to subject area objectives and prepare written lesson plans for substitutes.
  9. Use a variety of media and methods to motivate students and optimize instruction time.
  10. Identify pupil needs and collaborate with staff to address health, attitude, and learning issues.
  11. Be available for counseling with students and parents outside of class hours.
  12. Participate in community activities like open houses and PTA meetings to interpret educational programs.
  13. Coordinate work with aides, paraprofessionals, and student teachers when applicable.
  14. Contribute to the development of evaluation and assessment systems in cooperation with the principal.
  15. Maintain accurate student records and complete required reports and documents.
  16. Maintain regular and punctual attendance at the worksite.

Supervisory Responsibilities: None

Physical Demands:

Regularly required to sit, handle objects, talk, hear, reach, and occasionally stand and walk. Must be able to lift up to 10 pounds. Vision requirements include close, distance, and color vision.

Work Environment:

The environment generally has moderate noise levels. Travel within the district is necessary. Remote work is not permitted for campus-based positions, as attendance at the worksite is essential.
