School Faculty - High - Cardinal Gibbons HS

Cardinal Gibbons High School in Fort Lauderdale, Florida has an opening for a qualified Social Studies Teacher for the 2026-27 school year. This teacher will be expected to plan, organize, and implement an appropriate instructional program for high school Social Studies- AP and Dual Enrollment. The High School Social Studies Teacher performs all duties and responsibilities in alignment with the mission, vision, and values of the Catholic Archdiocese of Miami. Salary will vary based on certification and years of service.

Responsibilities include:

• Create hands‑on, inquiry‑based, project‑based lessons that build excitement to business and economics.
• Demonstrate concept using models, technology, and other standards or teacher‑prepared instructional aids.
• Compile, administer, and grade examinations and project‑based learning activities.
• Develop and implement a curriculum and lessons that will foster knowledge and skills essential to effectively teach students in the grades assigned.
• Communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with others.
• Promote high standards and expectations for student learning

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in social studies, Education, or related field.
• Three (3) years or more of experience, with AP experience preferred.
• Must obtain catechetical certification from Archdiocese Office of Catechesis, within three years of hire.
• Background in Business encouraged.
• Knowledge of World and European history and strategies for engagement, instruction and assessment.
• Communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with others.
• Proficiency in MS Outlook, Word, and Excel; PowerPoint a plus.
• Excellent classroom management skills and have demonstrated ability to engage students.
• Presentation skills and knowledge with use of instructional technology, including iPads, in the classroom.
• Excellent oral and written English language communication skills, including clear speaking voice.
• Supportive and respectful of the mission and tenets of the Roman Catholic Church; experience in the Roman Catholic environment preferred.
• Exemplify professionalism in behavior and performance, including adherence to dress code.
