Job summary

State of Mississippi's Department of Child Protection Services seeks a Social Services Program Supervisor in the Prevention In Home unit for 25 - Hinds County, MS. This time-limited role provides leadership, oversight, and coordination for prevention initiatives supporting families and child safety.

You will supervise Prevention Specialists and Inventory Specialist, coordinate volunteers and community partners, develop grant reports, manage program staffing, and ensure compliance with policies

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Provides oversight and coordination of Care Portal and/or other volunteer service initiatives.
• Ensures volunteer activities are consistent with agency policies, confidentiality requirements, and child safety standards.
• Develops and maintains relationships with faith-based organizations, nonprofit organizations, businesses, civic groups, and other community partners.
• Coordinates requests for MDCPS county offices and community assistance and ensures resources are appropriately matched to identified needs.
• Establishes processes for tracking volunteer services, community donations, referrals, and outcomes.
• Collaborates with internal divisions and external community partners to strengthen the agency’s prevention efforts.
• Leads or coordinates the development of grant applications and prepares and submits required programmatic, performance, financial, and other grant reports.
• Coordinates with fiscal and procurement staff to ensure grant budgets comply with agency policies, procurement requirements, and applicable federal and state regulations.
• Provides staff supervision of the Prevention Specialists and Prevention Inventory Specialist, establishes priorities, monitors performance, and provides ongoing guidance and professional development.
• Ensures staff maintain accurate and timely documentation, inventories, reports, and other required records.
• Provides technical assistance regarding prevention programs, resources, and community engagement.
• Identifies gaps in prevention services and develops strategies to improve access, coordination, and effectiveness.
• Leads or coordinates planning and setup of vendor tables at conferences, training, and agency events.
• Develops event objectives, agendas, timelines, resource requirements, and logistical plans.
• Coordinates with internal staff, community partners, presenters, vendors, and other stakeholders to ensure successful events.
• Assists with development of promotional materials, registration processes, participant communications, and post-event evaluations.
• Coordinates the ordering and procurement of supplies, materials, equipment, and other resources for prevention programs and events.
• Provides staff support and coordination for the Parent Advisory Council including recruitment and meeting logistics.
• Serves as staff liaison to the Children’s Trust Fund Advisory Council and manages meetings, minutes, and budget tracking.

This opportunity is a Social Services Program Supervisor position in the Prevention Unit within MS Department of Child Protection Services. About the Position

This is a time limited position. The Prevention Program Supervisor – provides leadership, oversight, and coordination for the agency’s prevention initiatives designed to strengthen families, promote child safety and well-being, and prevent unnecessary entry into foster care. The position supervises prevention staff, coordinates community and volunteer services, supports family and stakeholder engagement, and ensures prevention activities are aligned with agency priorities, best practices, and applicable federal and state requirements.

• Serves as staff liaison and provides administrative and programmatic support to the Children’s Trust Fund Advisory Council by coordinating meetings, agendas, taking minutes, creates and track the CTF budget and expenditures, and submits funding requesting to CTF for approval and supports initiatives and activities that advance the Children’s Trust Fund’s child abuse and neglect prevention mission.
• Develops policies, procedures, protocols, and guidance related to assigned prevention functions.
• Performs other duties as assigned by agency leadership
