Position Summary

The Social Services Director acts as the Department head in the absence of the Corps Officers and manages all aspects of Social Services and Food Services. This includes the management and training of staff and providing consultation and guidance in all areas of the Social Services presence at the Glendale-Burbank Corps and Community Center.

Essential Functions

• Provide guidance and technical Supervision to the Food Pantry Services Aides. Supervise the Burbank Storage Program Meals on wheels, Mobile Food Truck, and other programs.
• Ensure accurate and timely statistical data is collected and entered, which is contained in client files and electronically in HMIS Wellsky Programs.
• Respond to client requests and concerns as needed, working with the appropriate personnel in each case.
• Develop and monitor staff training opportunities.
• Gain and maintain a comprehensive knowledge of HMIS and all reporting Software.
• Ensure all client records are kept and maintained in accordance with all applicable state and federal laws, including Health Insurance Portability and Accountability (HIPAA).
• Network and coordinate with area non-profit and social services providers, to grow programs, and provide an increased knowledge of resources for the Glendale community.
• Monitor contract and grant requirements including objectives, and performance measures; Assist the management team in grant writing proposals and grant related reports.
• Maintain policy/procedures that address participant complaints/grievances in a timely manner and have this policy/procedure in a location that is visible to participants.
• Provide consultation with residential and family services programs as requested on case noting, file management, and statistics.
• Provide crisis intervention as needed.
• Establish and implement a system to address crises 24-hours a day/7 day a week.
• Maintain current and cultivate new resources for social programs including technical assistance and training of field personnel.
• Proactively look for opportunities to share about the Social Services programs offered at the Glendale/Burbank Corps. Develop descriptive materials to facilitate in this process.
• Review and analyze statistics of Social Services offices and prepare a report for inclusion in the annual divisional review.
• Develop and implement outcome measures/benchmarks for Social Services Programs, and with other programs that may need such assistance.
• Ensure that client participation in the organization’s services is voluntary. This includes participation in individual group counseling, case management, substance abuse treatment, self-help groups (in the facility or community) and social events.
• Work with the Corps Officer on various aspects of Holiday centered programming.
• Be available on‑call for emergencies.
• Perform other duties from time to time as may be needed.

Working Conditions

Office/field environments; travel from site to site; exposure to computer screens and inclement weather conditions. May work in confined spaces and have public contact. Ability to walk, stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel and twist on an intermittent or sometimes continuous basis. Ability to grasp, push, pull objects such as files, file cabinet drawers, and reach overhead. Ability to lift up to 25 lbs. This Position requires employee to be Vaccinated from COVID-19 or have a religious or medical approved exemption.

Minimum Qualifications

• B.A. degree in social work or related field (MSW preferred) and five years’ experience in social services, including at least one year in a supervisory position.
• Experience in working effectively with clients, staff, and others of diverse backgrounds and experiences.
• Experience working with Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint.
• Must possess a valid California driver’s license and pass a criminal background check.
