Description

The Kentucky Department for Community Based Services (DCBS) provides services and programs to promote family self-sufficiency, ensure child and vulnerable adult safety, and involve families and community partners in decision-making.

We are seeking a Part Time (less than 100 hours/month) Social Service Worker I, committed to helping families and supporting community well-being. This role requires professionalism, integrity, and the ability to perform at a high standard to serve vulnerable citizens. It demands maturity, self-discipline, and flexibility for overtime work.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  1. Investigating child abuse, neglect, or dependency allegations
  2. Meeting with families to assess reports of neglect or abuse
  3. Collaborating with schools, medical staff, and other stakeholders
  4. Conducting assessments during home visits and meetings
  5. Developing case plans with families to address issues
  6. Referring families to community resources
  7. Entering case data into computer systems
  8. Preparing court reports and providing testimony in hearings
  9. Working with law enforcement, schools, counselors, and shelters
