Job summary

Commonwealth of Kentucky's Cabinet for Health & Family Services seeks a Social Service Worker I in Grayson, KY to help families achieve safer, more stable homes. Telecommuting may be authorized; strong collaboration with local partners is essential.

Responsibilities include investigating cases, assessing needs, creating service plans, and coordinating with schools, healthcare, and law enforcement. Minimum education is a bachelor’s in a related field, with ongoing mentoring and benefits offered.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in social work, sociology, psychology, marriage and family therapy or a related field.
• Experience with families or children preferred.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Investigate allegations of child abuse, neglect, and/or dependency.
• Meet with family members to determine merits of a report.
• Meet with school and medical staff to gather information.
• Complete detailed assessments based on home visits and meetings.
• Work with families to create a case plan addressing issues.
• Refer to outside resources to help families stay safe in permanent homes.
• Enter case information into the computer.
• Complete court reports as needed.
• Provide testimony during administrative and judicial hearings.
• Collaborate with law enforcement, schools, counselors, and shelters.
