Stanford University’s Department of Psychology invites applications for a Social Science Research Coordinator to support the Hawkins lab’s research on human social interaction, learning, and communication. You will recruit participants, schedule sessions, obtain consent, and manage data collection and IRB documentation in a hands-on, collaborative environment.

Qualifications

  • Two-year college degree and one year of relevant experience or an equivalent combination of experience, education, and training.
  • Experience with recruiting participants, scheduling, and consent processes is preferred.
  • Ability to manage data entry and maintain IRB documentation with attention to detail.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare correspondence, documents and reports.
  • Maintain and file forms and documents, including consent forms and master subject logs.
  • Assist with screening, recruiting, and obtaining consent of study participants; conduct telephone or in-person interviews; schedule appointments.
  • Prepare, distribute, administer and process questionnaires and tests; score measurements and code data for entry; review data for completeness and accuracy.
  • Prepare data for input into statistical databases; type, edit and organize data.
  • Apply formulas and calculations to research data using basic statistical programs; verify database information.
  • Order and maintain equipment and supplies.
  • Process study compensation payments and thank-you letters to subjects upon completion of trial activities.
  • Assist with post-study activities as needed.

Working Title: Social Science Research Coordinator

This position has been deemed critical by the School of Humanities and Sciences Dean’s Office and is exempt from the hiring freeze.

Work Arrangement: This is a hybrid position based on the Stanford campus, with a minimum of 2-3 days per week on site.

Budgeted Salary: The budgeted base salary range for this position is $30.00 to 34.74 per hour.

This extraordinary achievement was honored by the Smithsonian Institution in Washington D.C. in 2003.

Position Summary: The Department of Psychology seeks a Social Science Research Coordinator to support the research operations of Professor Robert Hawkins's lab, which studies human social interaction, communication, and learning through behavioral experiments. Reporting to the Principal Investigator, the Research Coordinator manages participant recruitment, scheduling, and informed consent; prepares and administers questionnaires and experimental tasks; enters, codes, and quality-checks research data; maintains consent forms, master subject logs, and IRB documentation; processes participant compensation; and orders and maintains lab supplies and equipment. The ideal candidate is highly organized and detail-oriented, communicates well with research participants and team members, and is comfortable working with human-subjects data in a collaborative academic research environment. This position is well suited to someone seeking hands-on research experience prior to graduate study.

This is a 100% FTE, 1-year fixed term, non-exempt position. This position will be based on the Stanford campus and will be considered for an option of telecommuting (hybrid of working on-site and off-site), subject to operational need.
