Position Summary

Supermajority Education Fund is seeking a Social Media Manager. Reporting to the Deputy Director of Digital Experience, the Social Media Manager is responsible for creating, planning, writing and publishing content across Supermajority and Supermajority Ed Fund’s social media channels including (but not limited to) Instagram, TikTok, LinkedIn, Facebook and Youtube. They will run the strategy and implementation of our social media presence.

The Social Media Manager will have an in-depth knowledge of social platforms, social algorithms, and know the ins and outs of community management. This person will be responsible for reaching and growing target audiences using a voice and content that meets them where they are. The Social Media Manager will work across the organization (including with program, development, and creative teams) to create and experiment with engaging content and use data to measure success and adapt tactics and strategies.

This person will have a commitment to gender equity, racial justice, and economic equality. They will be passionate about spotlighting the voices and stories of women and girls of different backgrounds, races, and ages—from everyday heroes who are using activism to help their communities to national and international leaders who are inspiring change.

Responsibilities and Tasks:

Management

  • Works well across teams including the communications department, programmatic team, senior leadership, co-founders, donors, and various internal and external stakeholders to meet Supermajority’s high level content and audience development growth goals
  • Has deep understanding (and passion for learning!) about current events, pop culture and politics and how to translate critical cultural moments into compelling social media content. Suggests and implements new features to develop brand awareness, like promotions, influencer collaborations, online partnerships, competitions and more
  • Oversees design team partners, consultants and associates through the full content creation process – which includes distinct brainstorming, ideation, drafting, execution, scheduling and reporting steps


Execution

  • Acts as the main user generated creator for video content.
  • Is the keeper of the organization's social media calendar and the strategy behind it. Responsible for the creation, writing and publishing of engaging content (including messaging campaigns and rollouts, rapid response for significant media moments) on Supermajority’s social media channels. Creates and executes detailed social media project plans, timelines, and budgets.
  • Works to keep the organization abreast of current events and partner activity, engaging in comments and storysharing throughout the day, and sharing back as dictated by our strategic plan.

Performance

  • Responsible for growing Supermajority’s audience, followers and engagement across our channels. Incorporates thoughtful testing to inform social media strategy and optimization based on performance data, market research, benchmark trends, audience preferences, paid advertising and more
  • In partnership with the Deputy Director of Digital Experience, manages analytics for social media channels and reports out on performance to key internal and external stakeholders, while making suggestions for improvements. For example, sets targets for a certain number of shares or likes and measures Supermajority campaign’s performance against high level KPIs

The successful candidate must have the following skills and qualities:

  • Excellent writing and synthesizing skills:You have experience writing and developing concise and clear copy for complex topics.
  • Extensive knowledge of and demonstrated proficiency in social channels: including but not limited to Facebook, Threads, Instagram, TikTok, Youtube with a proven track record of understanding and testing new product features on social media platforms. You have a minimum two years of experience as an organizational or campaign content strategist.
  • Strong project management and collaboration: You take initiative. You’re highly organized, deadline-driven, and able to multi-task, and work under limited supervision. You possess a positive attitude and identify creative solutions to obstacles.You have experience leading stakeholders across teams to reach shared goals. You’re a pro at remote communication, and you’re not afraid to ask questions to meet the end goal.
  • Innovative and results-oriented: You’re excited about using data to test, track, and meet organizational goals. You thrive in an environment that requires constant learning and experimentation.
  • Passion for our mission: You desire to be part of a fast-growing organization building an intergenerational, multiracial movement for women’s equity.
  • Commitment to racial equity: You consistently integrate a deep understanding of racial equity into work projects and interactions. You understand the structural implications and disproportionate impacts of policies, activities, and decisions on race, class and other group identities within the context of your job responsibilities and our work.

The strongest candidates will also have some of the following skills and experience:

  • Experience creating user-generated content at a personal or professional level
  • Two to five years of experience at advocacy organizations or campaigns, plus familiarity with policy and organizing
  • Spanish language skills are highly desirable.

Compensation

  • The salary for this position is $82,000 per year with an annual tenure increase. We strive to maintain pay equity. Therefore, rather than negotiate salaries, we provide transparent, consistent, and competitive salaries for job posting based on job level. To ensure equity across all candidates, we will not negotiate with anyone.
  • Our comprehensive benefits package includes 100% employer-paid health, dental, and vision insurance for employees and their families. Employees are able to enroll in 401k retirement plan and are eligible for a 3% automatic contribution and up to a 3% employer match on 401k contributions. Employees accrue 160 hours of vacation time, 80 hours of health and caregiver leave, and receive 20 hours of volunteer leave annually. Employees will also receive 20 paid holidays throughout the calendar year. Employees are eligible for 20 weeks of paid parental leave.
