Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism, marketing, English, or related field.
  • Minimum five years of experience in nonprofit, corporate, or mission-driven communications.
  • Multimedia storytelling including video, podcasting, web series, and photography.
  • Ability to create graphics and video in Canva, OpusClip, and Adobe Creative Suite.
  • Ability to use Microsoft Suite effectively and experience using Sprout Social, WordPress, and website analytical tools.
  • Strong creative, strategic, analytical, organizational, and personable skills.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute AUS’ day-to-day social media strategy across Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, and YouTube.
  • Own AUS’ social media content calendar, including planning, scheduling, publishing, community management, and performance optimization.

Position Overview

We are seeking a passionate and proactive Social Media & Digital Marketing Manager is responsible for developing, executing, and optimizing AUS’ digital presence across social media, paid advertising, website performance, and brand management. This role requires a keen understanding of social media and digital advertising platforms, along with the ability to translate strategy into compelling content, measurable results, and meaningful community engagement.

The strategist will lead end-to-end digital initiatives, from creative asset development and campaign execution to performance analysis and brand stewardship, ensuring AUS’ mission, messaging, and impact are consistently and effectively communicated across all digital channels. Working closely with leadership, internal teams, and third parties, this role supports audience growth, engagement, and conversion while protecting and strengthening AUS’ brand reputation.

The ideal candidate blends creativity, partnership, and optimization, demonstrates sound judgment in fast-moving digital environments, and brings a proactive, solutions-oriented approach to advancing AUS’ visibility, credibility, and influence online.

Key Responsibilities
Social Media and Content
  • Develop and execute AUS’ day-to-day social media strategy across Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, and YouTube.
  • Own AUS’ social media content calendar, including planning, scheduling, publishing, community management, and performance optimization.
  • Create engaging, platform-specific content that increases awareness, engagement and participation in AUS programs, events and initiatives.
  • Write compelling social media copy, captions, headlines and calls to action that reflect AUS’ brand voice.
  • Identify social media trends, emerging formats and content opportunities and translate them into relevant AUS’ content.
  • Monitor comments, direct messages and audience conversations and respond appropriately to foster meaningful community engagement.
  • Conduct regular social media audits and make recommendations based on platform trends, audience behavior and performance.
Video, Photography and Creative Production
  • Produce short-form video content, including Reels, YouTube Shorts and other social-first video.
  • Independently plan, shoot, edit and publish video content from concept through final execution.
  • Operate professional photography and video equipment to capture high-quality images and footage at events, interviews, community activations and other AUS activities.
  • Capture compelling photography and video that can be repurposed across social media, email, SMS, web and other digital channels.
  • Develop interviews, testimonials, behind-the-scenes content, event recaps and other visual storytelling that communicates AUS’ impact.
  • Edit video using tools such as OpusClip, Adobe Premiere Pro, CapCut or comparable platforms.
  • Create graphics and other digital assets using Canva or comparable design platforms.
  • Work closely with AUS leadership, communications and creative staff to identify and execute timely content opportunities.
Email, SMS and Digital Channels
  • Manage AUS’ digital audience communications through platforms including Constant Contact and SlickText.
  • Develop, write, build, schedule and distribute email newsletters, announcements, event communications and campaign messages.
  • Develop and execute SMS campaigns that drive event registration, program participation, screenings and other desired actions.
  • Maintain audience lists, segmentation and communication schedules while following established messaging and brand standards.
  • Coordinate social, email and SMS campaigns to create cohesive multichannel campaigns around major AUS initiatives and events.
  • Monitor email and SMS performance and use engagement data to improve messaging, timing, segmentation and calls to action.
Website and Digital Marketing
  • Maintain and update AUS’ website through WordPress, ensuring content is accurate, current, engaging and aligned with organizational priorities.
  • Support digital campaigns designed to increase website traffic, registrations, engagement and conversions.
  • Apply basic SEO and SEM principles to improve AAMWA’s visibility across search and digital platforms.
  • Use Google Analytics, social analytics and other digital tools to monitor performance and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Develop regular performance reports that translate digital data into clear, actionable recommendations.
  • Manage and optimize paid social campaigns through platforms such as Meta Ads Manager.
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism, marketing, English, or a related field.
  • Minimum five years of experience in nonprofit, corporate, or mission-driven communications.

  • Ability to create graphics and video in software tools such as Canva, OpusClip, and Adobe Creative Suite.

  • Exceptional writing in AP style with a strong narrative voice and editing skills.
  • Experience with content management systems
  • Experience working with internal collaboration tools, such as SharePoint, Microsoft Teams, and Intranets, while working collaboratively with different teams across an organization.
