Job summary

Grand Canyon Education is seeking a Social Media Assistant to support the Online Marketing department by developing content for GCU’s official social media entities and monitoring online conversations about GCU.

You will post campus event information, craft notices, assist with reporting, design graphics, attend events for content capture, and write captions and partner messaging. A strong grasp of AP style and social platforms is essential.

Qualifications

• Outstanding writing, communication, and organizational skills.
• Advanced knowledge of Canva or Adobe Creative Suite applications.
• Must have experience creating original social media content.
• Advanced knowledge of CapCut.
• Respond to student needs with urgency and professionalism.
• Understand audiences and adapt messaging accordingly.
• Knowledge of Facebook, Twitter/X, Threads, Instagram, Pinterest, and TikTok.
• Advanced knowledge of AP Style.
• Understand admin functions in major social platforms.
• Experience with Hootsuite or similar tool preferred.
• Knowledge of Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Brand writing experience preferred.
• Photography skills are a plus.
• Stay up-to-date with memes, trends, and viral formats.

Responsibilities

• Posting advanced information about campus events.
• Communicating important campus notices (parking advisories, housing info, finance, deadlines).
• Assisting with social media reporting and monitoring.
• Designing graphics for GCU social platforms.
• Attending GCU events to capture content (photos, video, social).
• Copywriting—captions, messaging for partners and campaigns.
