Job description

This position is responsible for the education, promotion, preparation, and facilitation of a continuum of meetings in the child welfare unit. Responsible for ensuring that decisions are made as a team, keeping in mind safety, permanency, and well-being of all children involved with child welfare, through a family-centered and strengths-based approach. Tracks and monitors outcomes to ensure program integrity is maintained.

Qualifications:

Level II:

Education and or Experience: Bachelor’s degree with a major in a human behavioral sciences field. Major course work is the equivalent of 30 semester hours or 45 quarter hours in either development of human behavior, child development, family intervention techniques, diagnostic measures or therapeutic techniques. Examples of such major course work are social work, psychology, sociology, guidance and counseling, and child development. Minimum of one year of full-time professional caseworker experience acquired after the degree in a public or private social services agency.

Substitutions: A master’s degree in social work or human behavioral sciences field may substitute for the required work experience. A BSW and Field Placement with any Colorado Department of Human Services will substitute for one year full time casework experience.

For Promotional Purposes Only: Minimum of one-year full-time professional caseworker experience obtained in a social services agency at the Social Case Worker I level.

Level III:

Education and or Experience: Bachelor’s degree with a major in a human behavioral sciences field. Major course work is the equivalent of 30 semester hours or 45 quarter hours in either development of human behavior, child development, family intervention techniques, diagnostic measures or therapeutic techniques. Examples of such major course work are social work, psychology, sociology, guidance and counseling, and child development. Minimum of two years of progressively responsible, full-time, professional case worker experience, appropriate to the assignment, acquired after the degree in a public or private social services agency.

Substitutions: A master’s degree in social work or human behavioral sciences field may substitute for one year of the required work experience; one year of work experience must be received after the master’s degree.

For Promotional Purposes Only: Minimum of one year full-time professional caseworker experience obtained in a social services agency at the Social Case Worker II level.

Level IV:

Education and or Experience: Bachelor’s degree with a major in a human behavioral sciences field. Major course work is the equivalent of 30 semester hours or 45 quarter hours in either development of human behavior, child development, family intervention techniques, diagnostic measures or therapeutic techniques. Examples of such major course work are social work, psychology, sociology, guidance and counseling, and child development. Minimum of one-year full time, paid experience obtained in a social services agency at a Case Worker III Level.

Additional Requirements:

Must be able to pass a Nationwide background check including fingerprints to CBI (criminal record), fingerprints to FBI (criminal record), State Automated Child Welfare Information System Check (Child Abuse/Neglect Registry) and Division of Motor Vehicle (Seven years of good driving record for County Vehicle access).

Successful completion of all initial and subsequent training required by the State of Colorado for Social Caseworker positions.

Must be able to be physically present at the Department within 45 minutes of initial call when performing on-call duties.
