McCarthy Building Companies, Inc. is offering a Summer Internship for a Project Engineer role in Southern California. Interns are assigned to an active project, report on-site to the Project Manager or Assistant PM, and gain hands-on exposure to the building process and leadership skills.

Applicants should be Sophomores or Juniors pursuing a relevant engineering degree, with an interest in construction/PM, and willingness to relocate or commute for the internship.

Qualifications

• Sophomore or Junior pursuing a bachelor’s in CM/CE/EE/ME or related major.
• Genuine interest in a construction/PM career.
• Willingness to relocate or commute for the internship.
• General knowledge of construction principles.

Responsibilities

• Assist team with General Contract and Subcontract administration.
• Exposure to Construction Scheduling.
• Material & Equipment procurement and expediting.
• Coordinate mechanical, electrical and piping systems.
• Review and coordinate shop drawings and submittals.
• Participate in and document project coordination meetings.
• Research options on construction means, methods and equipment.
• Maintain As-Built plans.
• Monitor quality control on site and in shop; support safety.

Education

Bachelor’s degree in CM/CE/EE/ME or related major
